FAQ
WHAT IS A SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST?
Speech-Language Pathologists are experts in communication. We consult, diagnose, and treat children, adolescents, and adults with various communicative difficulties, including speech sound disorders, language delays and disorders, literacy skills, cognitive communication, and executive function deficits. Here at Hello Speech Charlotte, PLLC, we serve clients in the age range of preschool through college.
HOW DO I INITIATE SPEECH-LANGUAGE THERAPY SERVICES?
If you are interested in pursuing services, refer to the FREE CONSULTATION button to schedule a phone call. We will discuss the next steps and determine if a full assessment is recommended. Once a determination is made, you will receive a link to access all new client intake forms. If the evaluation results indicate that therapy services are warranted, we will put together a treatment plan with dates and times for therapy sessions.
WHAT IS THE FREQUENCY & DURATION OF TYPICAL THERAPY SESSIONS?
An individualized treatment plan will be tailored to meet the needs of each client based on therapy goals, age, family schedules, and finances. Depending on the area(s) of treatment, therapy sessions can range from 30 minutes to 1 hour in duration and are often scheduled for 1-3 times per week. The last 5 minutes of each session are designated for discussing goals and progress with parents or caregivers.
WHAT IS YOUR ATTENDANCE OR CANCELLATION POLICY?
Hello Speech Charlotte, PLLC requires a 24-hour notice to avoid a cancellation fee (50% of the session fee). However, we understand that unexpected illnesses and emergencies can occur that would prevent canceling in advance. Please refer to our cancellation policy in your new client intake paperwork for a full explanation.
DO YOU PARTICIPATE WITH INSURANCE COMPANIES?
Hello Speech Charlotte, PLLC is a private-pay-only practice. We do not participate as an in-network provider with insurance companies. We feel that the therapist and family should determine the best course of treatment, NOT an insurance provider. We will gladly provide you with a superbill you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement IF an appropriate diagnostic code is determined. If not, you will receive a statement or receipt for services rendered. If you plan to submit bills to your insurance company for reimbursement, it is your responsibility to check with the insurance company BEFORE the initial evaluation and first therapy session to find out what speech and language services are eligible for coverage. You are responsible for determining what information the insurance company will require. For example, you may need a note from your doctor (referral) or “pre-authorization” - permission from the insurance company before the evaluation and initial therapy session. Please remember that referrals and pre-authorizations ARE NOT a guarantee that insurance will pay for services. Hello Speech Charlotte, PLLC will ask that you put a credit card, debit card, or HSA card on file. Payment is required at the time of service.
